1) सकता था–
Ability in Past (समर्थता)
वह पहाड़ पर चढ़ सकता था, क्योंकि उसके पास
बहुत अच्छा अनुभव था।
He could climb the
mountain, because he had a very good experience.
आप मैच जीत सकते थे, क्योंकि आपके पास
बहुत अच्छे खिलाड़ी थे।
You could win the match,
because you had very good players.
जब मैं युवा था, तो मैं एक घंटे तक
लगातार दौड़ सकता था।
I could run continuously
for an hour when I was young.
वह गेंद को जोर से मार सकती थी।
She could hit the ball
hard.
2) सका/पाया (Saka/paya)
मैं किसी तरह उससे मिल सका/पाया।
I could somehow meet
him.
मैं जा ना सका/पाया।
I could not go.
वह मुझे नहीं बुला नहीं सका/पाया।
He could not call me.
3) सकता है– अनुमति लेने या देने के लिए)
क्या मैं विभाती से बात कर सकता हूँ?
Could I talk to Vibhati?
क्या मैं आपसे कल मिल सकता हूँ?
Could I meet you
tomorrow?
हाँ, आप मिल सकते हैं।
Yes, you could.
नहीं, आप नहीं मिल सकते।
No, you couldn’t.
Note: We can use “can”,
“could” or “may” to grant or request permission.
4) सकता है – सम्भावना व्यक्त करने
हेतु (To express possibility)
वह शाम को आपसे मिल सकता है।
He could meet you in the
evening.
आपके पिता आपको कभी भी कॉल कर सकते हैं।
Your father could call
you anytime.
कल बारिश हो सकती है।
It could rain tomorrow.
Note: We can use
“could”, “may” or “might” to express possibility.
